TMC Groups and Cars

At Tongham we not only race the SEGTO classes at each meeting, we also run two of our own formulas, Rookies (“Nudge and Spin”) contact class and a Novice Junior class. For more details and up to date rules please check the downloads section or visit the SEGTO website.

Juniors & Novice Juniors

  • For the younger drivers – 10 to 16 years old with little or no racing experience (note: to be eligable for the SEGTO championship the minimum age is 12 years)
  • Novice Juniors are permitted to carry a responsible adult in the passenger seat
  • The build specs are the same as ‘Production A’ class with some exceptions such as no locked differentials, additional roll cage requirements, etc.

Production A

  • Maximum engine capacity: 1,000cc FWD or 1,100cc RWD
  • OHV, OHC and single point injection engines subject to homologation list
  • 0.060″ (or metric equivalent) overbore permitted
  • Any carburettors or injection must be as per manufacturers specification/supply
  • ECU’s if used MUST be of manufacturers supply and unmodified with original stickers and markings visible and unmodified
  • Locked differentials ARE permitted, limited slip differentials are NOT
  • Shock absorbers may be uprated, coilover shock absorbers are only permitted if they are fitted as standard by the manufacturer
  • Maximum tyre width: 175mm with relevant markings to show they are suitable for road use

Production B

  • Maximum engine capacity: 1,300cc FWD or RWD
  • OHV, OHC and single point injection engines subject to homologation list
  • 0.060″ (or metric equivalent) overbore permitted
  • Any carburettors or injection must be as per manufacturers specification/supply
  • ECU’s if used MUST be of manufacturers supply and unmodified with original stickers and markings visible and unmodified
  • Locked differentials ARE permitted, limited slip differentials are NOT
  • Shock absorbers may be uprated, coilover shock absorbers are only permitted if they are fitted as standard by the manufacturer
  • Maximum tyre width: 185mm with relevant markings to show they are suitable for road use (with the exception of Yokohama A-021R tyres)

1450 Hot Rods

  • Maximum engine capacity: 1,450cc FWD or RWD with engine over the driven axle
  • Modified shells/space frames permitted
  • Single engine only
  • Multi valve engines permitted
  • Engine modifications are free (no turbocharging, supercharging, or other forced induction permitted)
  • Suspension and all other modifications are free
  • Tyres are free (to a maximum rim width of 10″ wide)

Super Saloons

  • Maximum engine capacity: unlimited
  • Modified shells/space frames permitted
  • Twin engine drive is permitted
  • Multi valve engines permitted
  • Engine modifications are free
  • Suspension and all other modifications are free
  • Tyres are free (to a maximum rim width of 10″ wide)

Rookies

  • A “nudge and spin” style formula with limited contact permitted
  • Engine capacity and build spec may vary at some meetings so it is advisable to contact the ‘Rookie Rep’ to check what will be racing and when

Specials

  • Unlimited engine capacity
  • Any non-production car with open wheels, with any drive configuration
  • Unlimited modifications
  • Single or twin engines

Thunder Rods

  • Engine capacity: over 1800cc FWD or RWD
  • ‘H’ frame cages permitted
  • Standard suspension
  • All glass to be removed and windscreen to be replaced with 25mm (1″) square mesh
  • Drivers window to have a window net
  • Original fuel tank to be removed and replaced with a maximum 2 gallon tank in a box or behind a fire wall
  • Isolator switch must be fitted on drivers side rear window and clearly marked on/off
  • Original seats may be used
  • Dashboard to be left in
  • Wheel size can vary but tyre width must stay as standard
